There’s a reason candlelight sits at the center of so many December traditions. Whether it’s the glow of a menorah, the shimmer of Christmas lights, or the quiet hush of the solstice’s longest night, this is the season when we gather the light in close — and gather each other in close with it.

In this 3-hour workshop, you’ll craft your own 4×4″ mosaic glass candle holder in a holiday palette of your choosing — rich reds and greens for a classic Christmas feel, or cool blues, whites, and silvers for a wintry mood. Mix it up the way you want — there will be plenty to choose from — and some special glitz you make all your own. It’s a beautiful centerpiece on its own, a natural fit for a holiday table, and one of the best handmade gifts you can give this season — thoughtful, useful, and glowing with warmth.

How the class works:

  • The Palette — I’ve already done the glass cutting for you, so you can go straight into the fun part: choosing your colors and starting your design.
  • The Technique — You’ll learn to place and puzzle translucent glass on an upright surface, so it catches daylight beautifully and glows warm once a candle’s lit. I teach this technique without grout — in my experience, it lets the colors and light shine through even more beautifully, giving your piece a more organic, artisanal glow.

This is a relaxed, welcoming space with a personal, supportive atmosphere. No previous art experience needed — come as you are, pull up a chair, and let’s make something that shines.

Art medium: Mosaic – working with pre-cut glass

Please note – while all glass is pre-cut, it is still glass — minor nicks are possible. Band-Aids are on hand in class
