Event Type

This class will teach you how to improve your photography by using the S.C.A.R.E. method–a five-step way to start taking better pictures, regardless of the type of camera you have.

This class will involve a short walk within a few blocks of the center to practice using the new photography techniques. For those not wanting to walk outside, it will be okay to photograph within the workshop space.

  • Camera (phones work perfectly, or any other camera students feel comfortable with)
  • Comfortable clothing, walking shoes

Instructor Bio:

Lauren McClanahan has been teaching photography workshops in the Bellingham area for over 20 years. Since 2016, she has been the director of the Bellingham Youth Media Project, a non-profit organization which encourages middle and high school students to tell their stories using photography and video. When not taking photos, Lauren is a professor in the Secondary Education Department at WWU, where she researches critical media literacy and teaches general pedagogy classes.
