Monthly meeting of the Whatcom Art Guild. Guests are welcome to attend and get connected with other local artists, see what we do, and decide if they would like to join… :)
Special Program:
One of the talented woodworkers at the Whatcom Art Market, John Trax, produces beautiful and functional cutting boards, cheese cutters and serving boards of locally selected and imported hardwoods. His woodwork ranges from large custom kitchen pieces to small laser engraved ornaments and notebooks. Also an accomplished photographer, John’s work is known for precision and heart. He looks forward to sharing with us a woodworker’s relationship with the wood, from selection to cut to finish.
Originally from the Midwest, Dana Hayden worked as a carpenter, building custom cabinets and houses. Since 2012 he has studied the art of turning wood using a lathe. Fellow Whatcom Art Market artists know Dana for his impeccable craftsmanship with live-edge turning, tiny birdhouses and ornaments, basket illusion woodwork, and his down-to-earth storytelling.
Please join us for A Woodworker’s Story, Presentation and Panel Discussion.
